Our first major update is now available in the App Store! As many of you know there was tremendous controversy surrounding the game difficulty we brought to the App Store upon release. Obviously we wanted to raise the bar and create a very challenging experience. That being said we did not have great options for less experienced players who needed a less steep learning curve. The great news is that is all changed now!
We have been hard at work on this update and have created three new difficulty settings – two easier ones and an even more challenging difficulty for the very elite. Rather than just slap something together with less enemy hp or increased player health like many games do each difficulty setting has many variables we have adjusted to provide a player experience for all skill levels.
Things like way points, which allow you to start closer to where you die, the ability to keep your weapons after you die, reduced weapon recoil, ammo drops, enemy hp, player hp, etc. vary for each difficulty setting.
For our hardcore fans we have even added ironman mode which you can only complete without a single death!
To reward players who fully explore each map and challenge themselves there is also now the ability to earn gold through salvage secured in each map. Rest assured the more challenging the difficulty the more gold you can salvage. This allows players to unlock even the upgrades without spending money on IAPs if they are good enough.
So let’s dive into some of the specifics to help you choose a difficulty level best suited to your playstyle but first let’s cover the graphical improvements we also included in this update!
In our latest update we have a total of four difficulties to choose from. If you are new to the game we suggest you start off on the recruit difficulty to get your feet wet and familiarize yourself with the game mechanics. The most important thing to understand when selecting a difficulty is the addition of spawn points throughout the maps. Prior to 1.1.1 you would have to start at the beginning of the map if you perished. Depending on the difficulty you will start closer to where you died. With the more difficult settings setting you further back towards the beginning upon death.
Recruit – If you are new to 2013: Infected Wars this is a good place to start.
Soldier – For Players Experienced with Mobile Shooters
Veteran – For Experienced Players That Want a Challenge
Elite – Ready to Push Your Limits?
We have also added an Ironman mode for each difficulty. There is a large gold reward if you are skilled enough to beat the game in a single playthrough without dying. The more challenging the difficulty the larger the purse you win at the end!
We look forward to hearing your feedback on the new game improvements!
